JAAGO Women's Day 10 Health Camp
On 8th March 2010, JAAGO Foundation provided free medical check-ups and free medicines to 1000 of the poverty-stricken and needy women in celebration of the 100th International Women’s Day.
Starting the campaign at 8AM sharp in the early morning, JAAGO Foundation, in collaboration with Aktel Telecom and Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, provided free medical check-ups and medicines to 200 mothers of the students of JAAGO and 800 other destitute women. Any woman was free to receive medical check-ups and the required medicines. The women were asked to form a queue in front of JAAGO and wait with a Token. Such an unexpected number of women appeared for free medical check-ups that JAAGO soon ran out of token; yet, JAAGO did not stop its service.
The experienced doctors of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital checked each woman’s blood-group and gave her a “Health Card” mentioning in it her name, age, and the blood-group. The doctors also diagnosed the women and provided them with the required free medicines.
At around 1:30PM, the campaign ended after serving 1000 women altogether.
Word from Korvi Rakshand, the Founder of JAAGO:
“I believe that the future of any nation is its children. It is in our hand to help shaping the dreams of these children so that they can shape our nation in the near future in return. I personally believe in the fact that every child learns to care for his/her nation when s/he is taught to do so by his/her mother. Hence, we want to lend our helping-hands to these mothers of the destitute children, and celebrate this International Women’s Day saluting all Women of our Beloved country and providing our small help to some of these Mothers. I, on behalf of JAAGO Foundation, convey my utter gratitude to both Aktel Telecom and Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital for their incomparable support and contribution in helping us reach our goal.”
