Step Up for the Kids
Saturday, 29 January 2011
On the last Thursday of January 2011, JAAGO UTSC, in Canada, pulled off a major charity event. Initiated by Tajrean Kashem, this event was organized to raise awareness and money for unfortunate children in Bangladesh.
The event hosted a series of performances and presentations including a dance competition. There were a number of performers, from various backgrounds and affiliations including UTSG, UTSC SAA, TSA, NAR, Ryerson University and McMaster University. The most interesting part of the event was probably the human auction. People were presented on stage, in a fashion show, and students bid on their favourites.
The event was hosted at Rex's Den from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Tajrean and her friends raised more than $200 (14,200 BDT).
JAAGO Foundation is a movement initiated by the youth of Bangladesh to help alleviate poverty and suffering in the impoverished society of Bangladesh by educating its children and building their calibre. We heartily thank Tajrean, her friends and the youth of Canada who played a part in this wonderful event for stepping up for these kids.
