JAAGO Team attends ICT Conference

Four teachers from the JAAGO Foundation School, along with the Education Coordinator of the Rayer Bazar Branch, attended 'Conference on Innovative ICT Use in Secondary Education' on 10th of January, 2011. The conference, which hosted hosted teachers, head teachers, online content providers, TQI officials, ministry officials and mobile Internet providers, attempted to provide a platform the teachers to display the work that they have been doing for the past year on British Council Schools Online, promote the online content that the British Council has to offer and also introduce the attendees with the other online content that they can use in their schools.

The event included speeches from ICT experts and notable personnel like Pete Sharma, a lecturer at Warwick University, the Additional Secretary of MoE, the Project Director of TQI, British council’s implementation partners BARCIK and TDI and David Mathias, a colleague from East Asia who was involved in the design of the online platform.

Members of the JAAGO Team exhibited the ‘online school’ project, where students living in areas with very little facilities for education, can receive an international standard education using innovative technology. A pilot phase of the online school in successfully operating in Tongi, and the teachers instruct the kids from Rayer Bazaar using internet.

The conference was appreciated by the participants and JAAGO thanks British Council for taking the initiative and inviting our team members.
