LONDON Turns Yellow!
Thursday, 26 January 2012
Londoners running to support build a JAAGO school in Bangladesh? Seems like a page out of fairy-tale! It truly swells the heart seeing our volunteers all over the world, working dedicatedly to support the cause JAAGO so deeply believes in.
Zahara Choudri is the acting head of this event on behalf of the UCL SPP Society, International Public Affairs Society (IPAS). She is a selfless individual who has dedicated all her time and energy to organise a fundraiser for JAAGO Foundation at the country’s capital.
An on-campus fundraiser is scheduled to be held on the 7th of February and a charity football tournament on the 18th of March. The UCL team is going strong with 18 volunteers actively raising funds.
UCL IPAS will also host a 5K or 10K charity run from which the amount raised will be donated to JAAGO Foundation to help make the new school in Chittagong. This run will have around 40 UCL students running along with some of the lecturers!
The department 10k run will be held at the very beautiful Royal Richmond Park. All participants will be paying an entrance fee of only £13 for the 5k run and only £16 for the 10K run. All participants will be given participation medals. Trophies are also up for grabs for the winners. So if you live in London or know someone living there spread the word and run to break the cycle of poverty.
