First Aid Center

The First Aid Center, patronized by Novartis Bangladesh Ltd, was established on February 1, 2010. The primary goal of this project is to ensure the regular health check up of each child enrolled in JAAGO Foundation initially, and then of all the people of the community in the near future. The project aims to be self-sustained within one year.

JAAGO Foundation has hired a veteran doctor and a well-qualified nurse to provide the services. The First Aid Center will be providing absolutely free medical checkup and medicine to all the students currently enrolled. However, JAAGO does not plan to stop there, since; this project’s ultimate goal is to ensure the sound health of all the people of the community. Therefore, JAAGO would open the facilities of the First Aid Center to the parents of the students of JAAGO Foundation after the first three months. The parents would also be availed free checkup facilities. However, they would have the opportunity to buy the medicines that they need at a price significantly lower than the market price. This selling of the medicine would fetch a contribution margin to the fund of the First Aid Center helping its goal of becoming self sustained within the first year of operation. The facilities of the First Aid Center would be made open to all the community members after six months. The community members would have to collect a Monthly Health Card per family from JAAGO Foundation for 30 Tk. per month (that is, 1 Tk. per day) to avail the services of the First Aid Center. They would be able to take advantage of the checkup facilities as many times as they like and the medicine will be provided to them at the same price as it will be provided to the parents.
