To emphasize on forming and training women's Self Help Groups (SHGs) and to strengthen and develop income possibilities of the destitute women are the prime goals of the Women Empowerment program. The objectives of this program are two fold-holding on to the children currently studying at "JAAGO" and to train women so that they are capable of earning their own living.
A major portion of the kids who are studying at JAAGO do not have fathers; which makes their mothers responsible for running their families. In searching jobs, the mothers of these kids shift from one place to another. In the process, they take their children with them. Ultimately, these children shift to a place from where they are unable to continue their studies at JAAGO. So, JAAGO ends up losing these kids. In its efforts to solve this problem, the Women Empowerment program is trying to train the mothers of these kids in different arenas to turn them into skilled laborers. After the completion of their training programs, JAAGO Foundation hopes that the women will be placed with job opportunities in accordance to their specialties.
To achieve the quest of making the women skilled labors, JAAGO Foundation has initiated a few specialized programs. The Sewing Centre is a major example. This program provides free of cost sewing training to the mothers of the children to make them self employed. The centre comes up with innovative clothing designs and also works with progressive concepts provided by others. The ultimate objective of the Sewing Centre is to make the women completely skilled so that they can work as personal tailors in the near future and earn their own living. JAAGO Foundation is also planning on opening training programs in ‘Welding’ and ‘Wood Works in the upcoming months.
JAAGO Foundation aims to achieve greater community development through the Women Empowerment project. JAAGO Foundation hopes that by building on strong community participation this project will inspire a pro-active attitude among the beneficiaries that will form a solid base for continuation and further development of the community and the individual families.
