On our way to celebrating 50 Years of Bangladesh, JAAGO Foundation believes that women’s contribution to our economy has been overlooked & underrepresented. In launching JAAGO Women, we hope to grow and implement this as an impactful wing of JAAGO Foundation targeting focused SDGs including (but not limited to) Zero Poverty, Gender Equality, Quality Education, Good Health & Wellbeing, and Partnerships for the Goals.
JAAGO Women has the mission to empower every woman seeking to improve their quality of life. This female-oriented initiative’s vision remains associated with feminine health & hygiene, child marriage prevention, skill development, and personal finance management.
From what’s missing in terms of essential health & hygiene for women to workforce-related projects, we might fill the gaps women in our society feel every day.
JAAGO Women began its journey by partnering with Shaathi, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering women and girls by providing locally-produced, reusable, eco-friendly pads. Shaathi promotes safe and clean menstrual practices and targets underprivileged women and girls who face barriers to access sanitary pads.
JAAGO Foundation’s youth wing, Volunteer for Bangladesh, partnered with Shaathi to carry out menstrual hygiene awareness campaigns in Dhaka (the slums of Korail and Rayer Bazar), Narayanganj and Gopalganj. This campaign named “Safe2Bleed” aimed at removing myths around menstruation, and raising awareness.
